Ayr wins Low Road in Stewarton Heather 175 Year Bonspiel

Ayr CC took part in Stewarton Heathers 175 Anniversary Bonspiel in Greenacres over the weekend 18/19th November.

There were 24 rinks invited rinks including Ayr CC, Dundonald CC, Galston Haymouth CC, Sorn CC and two from the USA.  These played in two sections with the top two in each section qualifying for the High Road semi finals and the third and fourth qualifying for the Low Road semi finals.

Ayr CC qualified as third in their section and then went on to win the Low Road final against a Stewarton Heather rink skipped by Colin Reid.  The Ayr rink was well skipped by Bobby Ireland with Ronnie Peat, Alan Sloan and David McIntyre assisting.

Our thanks go to Stewarton Heather's organising committee and their President David Mundell for inviting Ayr CC to this very well run bonspiel which was played in the true spirit of curling with an abundance of good curling and lots of banter.

The winners of the High Road was a Stewarton Heather rink skipped by David Reid.

Ayr CC results were:-
Dougie Reid (Stewarton Heather) lost 3-7
Tom Smith (Stewarton Heather) won 11-3
John Johnstone (Sorn) won 11-3
Low Road semi final Tom Reid (Stewarton Heather) won 8-2
Low Road final Colin Reid (Stewarton Heather) won 9-4
