Magnificent Morton and Maxwell Teams

Two years ago, we were celebrating Ayr winning the Maxwell and Morton Trophies on the same day. Last year we were celebrating the successful defence of both trophies.

Yesterday, they did it again.  Both the trophies were won for a unique three years in a row.

President Bobby Ireland has said

"Once again  I must congratulate the ladies who played in the Morton Trophy and the guys who played the Maxwell Ttrophy finals for again retaining both trophies.

To win both trophies for 3 consecutive years is a fantastic achievement and one to be celebrated. Thanks, Bobby"

The Ladies played Kinross in the Final and the scores were 17-1, 4-10 and 11-2, resulting in a victory by 2 games to 1.

The men were playing Lockerbie and all three games were very close.

Game 2 was a 5-4 win for Ayr. Game 3 was a 7-4 win for Lockerbie. Jim Boswell has given a rink side view of what happened.

"The Maxwell final was very closely fought, with one win to each side, the result all hung
on Neil Kennedy's team. Peels going to the last end, Neil having to draw to the four foot
with the final stone to beat Lockerbie's Jim Black's guarded shot. After being well handled
by his team, Neil's stone finished on the T line shot by 2 inches!"
Sincere congratulations to everyone involved.
