8 Ender for Dalmellington Craigengillan

09 December 2015

8 Ender Dalm Craig

Congratulations to Dalmellington Craigengillan CC who managed to score 8 shots in the second end of their game against Stair CC in the InterClub Challenge League on Monday.

Having lost a 3 at the opening end, they turned the game around at the second when they scored their 8 and never looked back.

The winning team were

Kathryn Hay (Skip)

Margaret White (3rd)

Robert White (2nd)

Frank McHugh (lead)

Now in amongst all the congratulations to the scorers of 8 shots, we should perhaps spare a thought for the other team on the ice.  Stair have been circulating their own take on the game and I thought it might be of interest to share their report. We share their pain.

"Today,December 7, 2015 - a date that will live in infamy - the Ancient Club of Stair was suddenly and deliberately attacked by Terrorist forces of the ICCL"

It is with deep regret that I have to announce the untimely death of Stair Rink C on 7th December at approximately 9:00 pm at Ayr Ice Rink. The cause of death was repeated beatings with blunt instruments and heavy granite objects by a group of terrorist curlers believed to be from Dalmellington acting in the name of ICCL.

The savage and, in my opinion, unprovoked assaults were occasioned by a 3-point win in the 1st end by Stair ably led by their skip Colin ' The Mechanic' Martin.  The Da'mellinton terrorists replied with unabated fury starting with an 8-ender fragmentation attack, then a 5-ender follow-up beheading.  Despite a game, though pitiful, rally of a 1-ender by the beleaguered and bloody Stair victims, the Outlanders swept back with a 3-ender sphincter clencher and then 2 x 2-ender deep stun over-runs which did the biz on Stair.
Final result Terrorists 20 - Stair 4.
"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."
