The semi final games and the final of the Ayr Playdowns took place tonight. Ayr and Alloway were up against Galston Haymouth 1 and Dundonald took on Galston Haymouth 2.
Galston Haymouth 1 with Robert Anderson skipping supported by Allan Forrest, Lorraine Shaw and Alison Cunningham saw off Ayr and Alloway whilst Dundonald put Jim Boswell's Galston Haymouth 2 rink to the sword.
In the final Dundonald skipped by Gemmill Jack with Jim Miller at three, Bobby Gault at second and David Hope leading, built up a lead of 6-1 after 4 ends but Galston kept pegging away and the score sat at 6-3 in Dundonald's favour at the end of the 6th end. In the 7th Robert played a great hit a roll to sit on the button with Dundonald stones immediately in front and behind - a steal looked certain but Gemmill played a tremendous strike through a fairly narrow port to scatter all three stones around the pot lid and lie three - sealing the game.
Both rinks will now go through to the National Finals at Forfar in March as worthy representatives of Ayr.
