Update on Marie Curie Appeal

30 March 2016

"Many, many thanks go to the curlers who supported the Marie Curie Bonspiel, and who also brought along raffle prizes, making the table groan. It was a sight to behold. Everyone had a smashing day and were delighted with the total raised, which was £800. A further £100 was donated by James Galloway, who sold beautifully turned, wooden curling stones. Our friends at QTS Group, Kilmarnock, sponsored the day, by paying for the ice and prizes.

We had a hamper of luxury goods to raffle on Closing Day, along with some more wine and chocolates and an overnight stay at Ayrs and Graces, five star bed and breakfast, was donated on the day by Paul Meehan, making the perfect end to our fundraising.

The magical total of £1230 was raised by Ayr Curling Club, and will be much appreciated and used by Marie Curie Nursing Service in Ayrshire and Arran. This money has provided 62 nursing hours for terminally ill patients and their families.
It has made a fitting end to my office as Lady President, and one that I shall always be very proud of.

Thank you all so very much.
Cathy Costello - Volunteer Fundraiser with Marie Curie."
