While the Eglinton Jug rightly took centre stage on Friday afternoon and evening, two Ayr rinks were playing against visiting rinks from the Corstorphine Club in Edinburgh.
Jack McCorkell skipped the President's rink and rushed intoan 8-0 lead before the Corstorphine President's rink got to grips with the ice. Just as well the Ayr boys got the shots in early as the final score was 10-9!!
The other Ayr rink was skipped by Billy Howat and it was only in the latter half of the game that Billy pulled away to record a 10-4 victory.
While both Ayr rinks won, this fixture, once again, emphasised the social aspects of curling with Past RCCC President Andrew Hepburn meeting up with his old Tour buddy, Jack Kennedy and the Corstorphine boys staying on to watch the Jug final buying raffle tickets and keeping the bar staff busy !!
