This year’s Parish Trophy reached its finale last night with Galston taking on Fairywell in one semi final whilst Land o’Burns faced Dundonald in the other.
Galston and Fairywell were neck and neck all game and all square going into the last end. In the other game Dundonald had built up a lead of 5-0 and were looking good until disaster struck and they gave up a 5 in the second last end.
So both semis went down to the last end where Fairywell and Dundonald managed to edge out Galston and Land o’Burns.
The final was another tight affair with Fairywell always just about having the edge but the teams were level pegging at 5 a piece going into the last end. Two superb shots by Bill Alexander were crucial - one a take out and the other a draw. Despite having the hammer there was no way in for Morag Evans’ last stone and it was victory to Fairywell.
Well done the Fairywell rink of Allan Sloan, Keith Rennie, Bill Alexander and John McWhirter. Hard lines to Dundonald - Morag Evans, John Davers, Andrew Kerr and Logie Collins.
