Ayr Curling Club was once again proud to host the Scottish Schools Championship, from 6-8 March, 2020.
With 24 teams taking part from across Scotland, competition was fierce but friendly and great fun for participants, who were watched by parents, grandparents and supporters. The format was a round robin played in 4 groups of 6 teams, with the semis being played at 11.30am on the Sunday and the final at 2.00pm in front of a good crowd.
After a closely fought final between Stranraer Academy 2 and Dalbeattie High School, Dalbeattie High School took the trophy.
Gold medalists:
Orrin Carson (Skip), Struan Carson, Hannah Farries, Logan Carson and Kirsty Farries
Silver medalists:
Finlay Hare (skip), Rory Dodds, Kerr Jamison and Kerr Lyon.
The standard of curling was high and the sporting behaviour of participants was exemplary. Congratulations to all teams taking part.
Thanks also go to the ice men, umpires, caterers and the board of ACC for its support.
