The Bonspiel this year attracted 16 teams made up of curlers from as far afield as Skelmorlie, Strathaven and Stranraer. The final games in the schenkel system competition took to the ice at 4.30, with the outcome and winning rink being decided by the last stone of the competition.
This year's winning rink was skipped by David Bell, with Ryan Kennedy, Sheila Kennedy & Matt Dunlop, pictured above with our main sponsors. Thanks to Jennifer Mutter for the photo.
Runners up were Bobby Ireland, Allan Sloan, Rachael Ireland & Logie Collins. In third place came Gemmill Jack, Charles Sutherland, Janice Sutherland & Elizabeth Shaw. The final games Booby prize went to Keith, Aileen, Mungo & Katie. (They wanted to remain anonymous!!)
A tradition with this event is talent awards presented to individuals competing in the Bonspiel.
They were as follows – ‘Loving couple’ had joint winners, being Ernest & Jennifer Mutter and George Hunter & Allan Ferguson both receiving prizes in recognition.
The ‘Super Sweeper’ award was also shared by Charles Sutherland and Andrew Kerr (following his recent TV debut highlighting his sweeping skills!!!!)
A charity raffle in aid of Ayrshire Cancer Support by Dundonald Curling Club was generously supported by everyone on the day and winners will be announced at their Bicentenary Dinner being held at the Gailes Hotel, Irvine on Saturday 2nd April 2022 at 7.00pm.
