It's great to be able to report on some curling again.
Monday afternoon saw the Ayr's Opening Bonspiel start the new season.
It was a very successful day. There were a lot of happy faces (when the facemasks weren't on), the catering from Lorrie was first class. Sinitta and her bar staff seemed really happy to be serving again.
The curling took place over two sessions.
New President Rob was in charge and here is his report on the games.
"The winners of the first session were Kirkoswald who trumped Disnae 17-2 so were plus 15. Second were Galston Haymouth who beat an Ayr CC rink 12-1 so were plus 11. In the later session we could not separate Troon Portland and Galston who both were on plus 12 and had 6 ends each so we had enough wine to go round so they both got prizes. Galston beat Ayr & Alloway and Troon beat Ayr & Alloway as well. Second equal were Tarbolton and Symington who also tied on plus 8 and 5 ends each. Again we divvied up the prizes between them. Was an expensive day for presenting prizes but we were so glad to see all those people back and we got big thanks from most people which made it worthwhile."
