Latest news on new Ice Rink for Ayr

10 June 2024

Following Ayr Ice Rink closing in September 2023, a steering group was set up to look at the feasibility of building a new curling ice rink for Ayrshire. This group led by Bert McKay, meets once a month and their first task was to form a new not for profit company limited by guarantee with charitable status. This has now been achieved and is called Curl Ayrshire Charity.

There will be a meeting for all Ayr Curling Club members on 6 August 2024 (full details will be sent to members shortly) to explain how the proposed transition to the new charity would affect members, examine costings and the viability of a new facility.

Sourcing of funding will of course be a priority. It is anticipated that funding will comprise donated funds and grant funding.

Several possible sites have been considered, and if anyone knows of a suitable site (approximately 1.5 acres) please contact Bert on mckay.nirvana@gmail.com
