Following the latest guidelines from The Scottish Government we have updated our operating procedures. We all understand that the situation is far from normal but we aim to give you the best service that we can, given the restrictions.
The staff, committee and board have worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure the club is as safe as we can possibly make it and the safety of our members, staff and all other users is our upmost priority. Now more than ever we need you to support the bar and catering to ensure both remain viable. Our new caterer is especially keen to offer food whenever there is curling, just like the old days, so please do stay and share a meal or snack.
There have been some changes since last season – number 1 is our new caterer Lorrie who will be offering you lovely fresh dishes. Lorrie is being assisted by the bar staff this season and this is a new way of working so if things are not quite perfect please be understanding while it all beds in.
Details of Lorrie's menus can be found here.
There is a one way system and floor markings in place if you are collecting food and hot drinks from the servery, this is clearly marked. In line with Scottish Government Guidelines for hospitality we are operating a 1m rule upstairs.
We ask that you pre order as much as possible from the sheets on the ice – this will ensure queuing is kept to a minimum. All condiments will be, as far as possible, in individual sachets. There will be no communal milks and sugars on the tables.
There will be increased sanitisation between customers and increased cleaning and sanitisation of all public and work areas.
All tables will be laid out to conform with the new rules (no more than 6 people from 2 households) Please DO NOT move tables about as they have been setup to allow for social distancing in line with the Government Guidelines. As per the new rules masks are mandatory, unless medically exempt, while entering, leaving and moving about the building and must remain on unless you are seated at your table eating and drinking. Masks may be removed while Curling on the ice. Spare masks will be available to purchase from the bar.
Along with the food pre order there will also be a drinks pre order sheet on the ice. This will allow the bar staff to get your order over to your table in good time once you have finished the game. In a change from the past the bar will be predominantly table service. Ordering at the bar is discouraged but if you are at the bar please observe social distancing and keep queuing to a minimum. Standing at the bar is no longer permitted.

Staff will be on hand to guide you through this very new way of working and we thank you for your support. Please be patient if you have to wait a little longer, please follow the guidelines. You know that we are all smiling behind our masks.
We are sorry this seems a very prescriptive letter but ‘forewarned is forearmed’ and we want to be able to curl and socialise as best we can under the circumstances. Hopefully things will improve soon and we can get back to a more normal situation.
Below is a note from the bar staff and an introduction from Lorrie, these can also be found on the website. We are pleased to announce that Sinitta and her team of Amy, Amber and Clare will be back behind the bar this season. You will all know that Sinitta accepted the role of Bar Manager last season and has done a sterling job since then:
RE. Bar
It will be a very different look in the bar this year, for now at least, and we hope that you will all be patient and understanding while we try to get used to this new way of working.
For now, at least, it will be mainly table service and we ask that you pre order from the sheets at the end of the ice to enable the staff to get your drinks to you in a safe manner once you are seated upstairs. We will still accept cash but card is preferable.
The bar is open from 4.30 until 11pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Opening times vary on Sundays depending on the ice times.
We offer a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as a good selection of soft drinks and a lovely range of teas, hot chocolate and coffee when the servery is closed. Please do remember this is a small club bar but if you would like us to stock something specific please just ask.
If you require our services out with these times please contact me Sinitta on 07983670551 and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
We thank you all for your continued support and wish you a successful curling season.
Your Bar Staff,
Sinitta, Amy, Amber and Clare
RE. Catering
We are very pleased to introduce Lorrie Headley as our new caterer. Lorrie is an Ayrshire man with a passion for Burns, cooking, wine and walking. He hails from Mauchline and has a long career in the catering trade.
He joins us in strange and uncertain times but you will all give him a warm welcome and support him with your custom.
In a change from recent times Lorrie is keen to offer food whenever there is curling, just like the old days, so please do stay and share a meal or snack.
Should you or your club wish to organise your post-match catering you can contact Lorrie directly either in the ice rink or on 07748 884377. Sample menus are on the catering page of the website.
A message from Lorrie
I see myself as being an integral part of the team, along with your committee, ice, office and bar staff all here to deliver your curling experience – and for my part, a ‘can do’ attitude is guaranteed.
Fresh Food Done Well is my mantra and I believe you will enjoy my dishes. I am never happier than when I am in the kitchen and I can’t wait to put on my whites and meet everybody.
Good food makes people smile – I like that notion.
Looking forward to looking after you.
Lorrie
